Overview

Socionics information elements, also called information aspects, are source-tradition categories assigned to Model A positions. In the BWB reconstruction, each aspect provisionally pairs what distinctions a partial representation preserves with how it organizes them. It does not say whether a person is good, bad, moral, intelligent, emotional, or practical.

In Before We Build, information elements are treated as heuristic categories of tactical information modeling. They are not scientifically established modules of the mind.

Four Information Signs

The current raw source divides information into four broad signs:

Each sign has white/introverted and black/extraverted variants, producing eight information elements.

The wiki's raw source currently uses BS/CS/BI/CI/BL/CL/BE/CE naming. Many Socionics communities use Si/Se/Ni/Ne/Ti/Te/Fi/Fe. These are naming variants for the same broad element categories in this context, not separate concepts.

Source-axis audit

Founder-text auditing yields an attributed object/field × static/dynamic × internal/external scaffold. The resulting coordinates are Ne internal-object-static, Se external-object-static, Fe internal-object-dynamic, Te external-object-dynamic, Ni internal-field-dynamic, Si external-field-dynamic, Fi internal-field-static, and Ti external-field-static. raw/socionics/information-aspects.md differs for Si, Ne, Fi, and Fe; it remains archived rather than silently corrected. Property Dimensions

The archived raw source summarizes three property pairs for information aspects, but its static/dynamic assignments are not used uncritically because of the documented source conflict:

These properties belong to Socionics theory. Before We Build uses them as conceptual structure, not as empirically proven divisions of cognition.

Elements Inside Model A

An information element becomes typologically specific when it occupies a Model A position. The aspect proposes content and operation; the position proposes a mode of use.

For example:

  • position 1 proposes stable foreground framing;
  • position 2 proposes flexible situational production;
  • position 4 proposes least-stable modeling under pressure;
  • position 5 proposes valued, externally scaffolded intake.

Therefore, element names alone should not be turned into personality claims. The structural position matters.

Before We Build Interpretation

In BWB, each element is read through its specific operation rather than a broad theme family. Evidence must show what is selected, preserved after compression, inferred, and revised after feedback. Model A then adds a separate, revisable position-mode hypothesis. Neither thematic interest nor task success alone identifies the element or position.

Naming and Boundary Caveats

  • Socionics information elements should not be collapsed into MBTI cognitive functions.
  • Ethics in Socionics is not identical to moral goodness or emotional intensity.
  • Logic in Socionics is not identical to intelligence.
  • Sensing in Socionics is not identical to athleticism or materialism.
  • Intuition in Socionics is not identical to mystical ability or creativity.
  • Elements should not be used as deterministic labels without observed evidence and context.
