Overview and Scope
Psychosophy is a typological theory associated with Alexander Afanasyev and Syntax of Love. Before We Build uses it as a heuristic hypothesis about the operational organization of joint action: how people negotiate agency, expression, reasons, material resources, effort, and pressure. It is not a complete theory of personality and does not determine relationship outcomes.
Its codes are compact models of proposed predispositions in analysis, synthesis, and action organization, not personality types. Any natural basis is a further unvalidated hypothesis, with learning, role, culture, state, stress, and context as rivals.
Core Constructs
The system orders four aspects. The BWB wording below is an operational interpretation, not an empirically established mechanism.

Position Structure

These descriptions must be tested in episodes. “Confident,” “vulnerable,” and “low-priority” describe proposed handling of a domain, not competence, dignity, or moral character.
Type Reference
The standard reference catalog contains the 24 permutations of L, E, V, and F. A code such as LEVF means 1L, 2E, 3V, and 4F; it compactly models a proposed process predisposition, not a kind of human being. Afanasyev's theoretical “25th type” (2-2-2-2) is retained as a source-specific historical proposal, not as an additional observed category.
Observations and Alternative Explanations
Directly observable material includes who initiates a decision, asks for discussion, changes a plan, handles practical work, or reacts to pressure in a specific episode. A Psychosophy position is an interpretation of repeated indicators. Skill, role, power, culture, attachment, health, stress, resources, and the concrete task are rival explanations.
What Must Not Be Inferred
- A position does not measure intelligence, morality, emotional depth, willpower, health, consent, or human worth.
- A type does not fix character, vocation, safety, spiritual maturity, or destiny.
- A type or position does not create a pair score, ranking, recommendation, or verdict.
- Public-person typings and school attributions are hypotheses or historical claims unless independently validated.
Use in Before We Build
Psychosophy supplies operational questions: How will we decide? Who needs dialogue before commitment? How do we share practical work? When does help become pressure? Answers come from observed interaction, explicit consent, and context; the type code only organizes hypotheses.
