In brief
ESCO can organize occupations, skills, and work activities. The three typologies are unvalidated heuristic models of proposed latent processes. BWB does not currently map a type to occupational fit, rank jobs for a person, or use typology for hiring, exclusion, military selection, or assignment.
Legitimate use of an occupational taxonomy
A role can be translated into observable requirements such as qualifications, tasks, tools, physical conditions, schedule, authority, coordination, mobility, risk, and performance criteria. A person can be described through verified training, work samples, experience, preferences, constraints, and outcomes. Comparing those two evidence sets is useful without typology.
The narrower research question
A future study may ask whether predefined indicators from Socionics, Psychosophy, or Temporistics add reproducible information after established predictors are included. This is a question about incremental validity, not permission to assume that a type prefers technical work, tolerates pressure, communicates well, or sustains a time horizon.
Safe study order
- Define a specific outcome and context.
- Record qualifications, work samples, experience, accessibility needs, and environmental constraints.
- Define typological constructs and indicators before observing the outcome.
- Compare against simpler alternatives and out-of-sample results.
- Measure error, subgroup harm, uncertainty, and changes across contexts.
- Do not operationalize the result when reliability, validity, or safety thresholds fail.
Illustrative DevOps example
For a DevOps role, directly relevant evidence includes operating-system and cloud knowledge, automation work, incident records, reliability outcomes, collaboration, on-call constraints, and learning history. A typological interpretation may suggest an interview question about information, action, or time; it does not add a qualification or prove fit.
Military and other high-risk roles
Typology must not select, exclude, or assign a person to a military, emergency, clinical, security, or other high-risk role. Such decisions require lawful procedures, verified competence, medical and safety assessment where appropriate, informed preferences, supervision, and role-specific evidence. Adding typology beside these criteria does not make it valid.
What must not be inferred
No code establishes ability, resilience, loyalty, leadership, stress tolerance, disability, physical capacity, career calling, or probable success. A self-report test result is not employment evidence and is not a pair-compatibility score.
